Birhash Giri BasumataryThis thesis titled ‘Boro Dialects of Brahmaputra Valley: A Linguistic Study’ is prepared by taking into consideration those areas in the Brahmaputra Valley, which are predominantly inhabited by the Boro community. The main objective of this study is to provide an analytical study of the Boro language together with the classification of its main dialects. It seeks to make a humble attempt at finding and discussion the Phonological, Morphological and Lexis among these dialects.. It is pertinent to mention here that the language of Kokrajhar District, Bongaigaon District, and Chirang District of Brahmaputra Valley area which has been classified as WBD has achieved the status of a standard form of a language and hence the discussion on the other dialects have been done in reference to the W.B.D. In regard to the preparation of this thesis I must mention that a numbers of people extended considerable help to me both directly and indirectly and I would fail in my duty if I do not express my profound sense of gratitude to them.
